Why I am a Doula
Every woman should have physical and emotional support during her pregnancy, birth and after the baby is born. This joyous time can also be quite challenging. Whether this is your first child or you have other older children, you deserve help.
After I had each of my little girls, my mom came to help me, but she could only stay for a week. She made meals, kept the laundry up, did the household chores and held the baby while I took a nap or showered. When she had to leave, the house work did not get done and I longed for a decent home cooked meal and a nap. As a new mom, I needed assistance with breastfeeding and had questions about infant care. I wanted reassurance that I was caring my daughter in the best possible way. When my second daughter was born, I struggled with having an infant and a toddler while keeping up with the day-to-day responsibilities. I know what it is like to be overwhelmed with all the changes a new little life brings. I love making a positive difference in the lives of families by helping parents get through this happy, but busy, challenging time.
